Things To Note Before Arrival

New or referral patients are advised to bring their referral letter to the first consultation.

To diagnose a suspected cancer correctly, The Cancer Centre conducts an array of tests, including blood tests, PET and CT scans, as well as MRI’s and Biopsies in order to correctly identify the cancer type and stage. The appointment and tests can be done on the same day if the patient has fasted. If this is not the case, the tests can be done on the following day.

Most laboratory results require 4 hrs to complete, whereas the PET scan may take up to 24 hrs. This means that a full diagnosis may take anywhere between 1 – 3 days.

Local or overseas patients visiting The Cancer Centre for a second opinion should bring a copy of their detailed medical report, histology report and previously prescribed treatments and medications with them.

We are able to arrange for a Vietnamese, Russian, Indian and Cambodian-speaking translator, and encourage patients to bring along a friend, relative or main caregiver to the appointment for emotional support.
